Of Love’s related things
Is nostalgia without longing still nostalgia
Or do I need to find a different word
For looking back into the past without longing
Maybe there isn’t a word for it
Maybe a bunch of words is needed
To convey the emotion
Of remembering bygone times without wishing to return to them
I remember many such times
Every life is crammed with them, I dare say
Dabs of regret here and there
But also rainbows of joy at recollections
Of moments of supreme bliss
Of being somewhere
Of being in someone’s company
Of doing something
And not wanting to be anywhere else
At one time those moments were in the future
Until they landed in the present
And drifted to the irretrievable past
I remind the silliest person I know
Because I know him so well
Because I don’t allow him to hide from my honesty
To never leave the present
Because it’s my only opportunity
To eradicate seeds of regret before they sprout
To savour the joy of my existence
To be grateful
To desire what I have
