Bragging rights
Do I deserve bragging rights for this? I wear an Apple watch. My health fund offered it to me in July last year. Not for nothing. Their price was $648 payable in 24 monthly instalments of $27. What prompted me to accept the offer was the accompanying incentive to exercise regularly. if I accumulated 500 exercise points a week, I’d receive $5 credit on my monthly instalment. And if I achieved four 500-point weeks in a calendar month, that month’s instalment would be completely waived. This is how points are awarded. I can score either 50 or 100 points a day. Fifty points are awarded for 7500 to 12499 steps; or 30 minutes exercise at an average heart rate of 60 percent of the maximum for my age. One hundred points are awarded for 12500-plus steps; or 60 minutes exercise at an average heart rate of 60 percent of the maximum for my age; or 30 minutes exercise at an average heart rate of 70 percent of the maximum for my age. My maximum heart rate is 220 minus my age. The program commenced on August 1 last year. To-date I have not paid a cent for the watch.
