What were the immigration rallies all about

What prompted citizens to take to the streets

If protestors were angry about pure numbers

Going up, affecting housing, employment

Overcrowding this vast land

They might have attempted to find out for themselves

Check the stats, readily available

If they did, they’d have found out the numbers are declining

A positive trend in their eyes

They’d have decided to do something else two Sundays ago

But they didn’t

They protested

Why?

The protest wasn’t about numbers

It was all about the ethnic composition of migrants to this country

In hijacking the protesters’ agenda the neo-Nazis did not distort it

They showed the ugliness of its truth

A truth that still festers in Australia

Not far below the surface

Suddenly racists are being empowered to come out

Declare that they want Australia to go back

To the way it used to be

A white person’s country
