Religious Bigotry

Do people like Margaret Court ever stop to think

That if their fundamental disposition towards other people were different

They might not hate homosexuals

That if they truly loved people

They wouldn’t be able to hate anyone

Maybe like Pope Francis

Definitely not like other religious leaders, for instance

The ones who have said that the pandemic is God’s punishment for gay marriage

What I am trying to say is that

A fundamental disposition towards others

Dictates the way one expresses religious beliefs

Religious beliefs will never turn someone into a bigot

Religion is manipulated, often distorted, to express bigotry

Maybe they want to instil fear

Because it gives power and stokes egos

Religious righteousness is a powerful cloak

Over one’s fundamental drivers

It projects illusions

It presents hatred as love
